Empowerment in Motion: Million Women Rise Rally, London

Standing among thousands of women marching through the streets of London on International Women's Day — a statement, a sisterhood, a revolution in motion.

Million Women Rise (MWR) is a movement led by Black women for ALL women, working towards safe spaces free from fascism, discrimination, and hate. At its core, MWR is a fight against male violence and systemic oppression.

The streets of London were alive with energy, passion, and purpose. Banners painted a powerful picture: "Not all men but enough for all of us to be scared." The chants were relentless, voices rising above the city's noise.

Traveling isn't just about seeing beautiful landscapes — it's also about witnessing history, activism, and social change. Being part of this march allowed me to experience International Women's Day in a deeply personal and powerful way.

Exploring Cheshire Oaks: The Ultimate Designer Outlet

The UK's largest designer outlet — over 140 stores, 19 restaurants, and a range of entertainment. A complete shopping and leisure experience in Ellesmere Port.

Located just off Junction 10 of the M53, Cheshire Oaks was the first designer outlet village in Europe when it opened in 1995. With a quarter-million square feet of retail space, you'll find luxury brands like Burberry and Ralph Lauren alongside high-street favourites.

One of the biggest draws is the unbeatable discounts — up to 60% off year-round. The Coliseum Leisure Park next door adds bowling, cinema, and adventure golf to the mix.

Personal note: I visited during the Christmas period and it was truly magical — festive lights, holiday decor, and a lively atmosphere that made it feel like a wonderland.

Getting there: By train to Chester, then the 1 or X1 bus (35 min). By car from Birmingham: 1 hr 55 min via the M6.

Istanbul is a city where East meets West, blending rich history with modern vibrancy. Here's how to make the most of four days in this extraordinary city.

Best time to visit: Spring (April–June) and Autumn (September–November) for mild weather and manageable crowds.

Day 1 — Historic Core: Start at Hagia Sophia (built 537 AD), then the Basilica Cistern with its eerie Medusa carvings, the Blue Mosque with 20,000 handmade Iznik tiles, and end at Bulgur Palace — a restored 1912 mansion now a cultural centre.

Day 2 — Beyoğlu & Palaces: Panoramic views from Galata Tower, then Topkapi Palace's Harem and treasury, and the Grand Bazaar — 61 covered streets and over 3,000 shops.

Day 3 — Modern Istanbul: Egyptian/Spice Bazaar, Istiklal Street, Taksim Square, Dolmabahçe Palace on the Bosphorus, and Yıldız Palace surrounded by lush gardens.

Day 4 — Princes' Islands: Take a ferry to Büyükada — no motor vehicles, horse-drawn carriages, and a relaxing meal by the sea.
